Pianist Marie-Hélène Trempe is the winner of the 2008 Joseph Rouleau Award, presented annually to the Montreal International Musical Competition’s best artist from Quebec. She is also the recipient of many other awards and distinctions, including the First Prize at the Orchestre symphonique de Trois-Rivières Competition and First Prize at the Canadian Music Competition. She is also a three-time winner of Radio-Canada’s Young Artists Competition, the winner of a special performance award presented by the Crescendo Summer Institute of the Arts in Hungary, the winner of the Boaz Sharon Award at the 8th Journées de la musique française in Montreal, and a two-time winner of the Fonds des Amis de l’art bursary, awarded by the Université de Montréal.

Marie-Hélène Trempe has appeared in concert on several renowned national and international stages including the Amphithéâtre de Lanaudière (Quebec) during the Festival de Lanaudière, Palais Montcalm (Quebec City), Place des Arts and Notre-Dame Basilica (Montréal). In addition, she has given recitals in England, France, Japan, and Switzerland. She has also been heard with several orchestras, including the Orchestre symphonique de Longueuil, the Orchestre du Festival de Lanaudière, the Orchestre symphonique de Trois-Rivières, and the Orchestre philharmonique du Nouveau Monde. She has also been seen and heard on many Radio-Canada television and radio programmes.

During several internships and festivals, Marie-Hélène Trempe has worked with and benefited from the guidance of such eminent pianists and teachers as Alain Lefèvre, André Laplante, Jacques Rouvier, Jimmy Brière, and Logan Skelton. She is currently working towards her doctoral degree in the Music Faculty at the Université de Montréal where she is studying with pianist Jean Saulnier.
