Thierry Arsenault is a very active musician on the Montreal music scene. He is mostly known for being a versatile drummer and percussionist in the 'world music' circles. He is a specialist of Eastern European, West African, Moroccan and Indian classical rhythms. Just as comfortable before crowds of 20 or 20 000, he has played in close to a dozen countries.
He is a founding member of klezmer extraordinaires Shtreiml with whom he continues to tour the U.S.A., Canada and Europe. Other notable acts he has performed with include : Béla Fleck, Harry Manx, Socalled, Joshua Nelson, Florence K., Frank London’s Klezmer Brass Allstars, Alicia Svigals, David Krakauer, Sylvie Desgroseillers, Bernard Primeau Montréal Jazz Ensemble, Nathalie Choquette, Anthony Coleman, Prince Diabaté and Madrigaia.
Thierry has now become a 'regular' at such events as the Montreal International Jazz Festival, Nuits d'Afrique and Musique Multi-Montréal. He also performed at numerous other festivals such as: Jewish Culture Festival (Krakow, Poland), Klezmoe Festival (Vienna, Austria), Ashkenaz (Toronto, ON) et Winnipeg Folk Festival (Winnipeg, MB).
He is now on faculty at the annual Klezkanada music camp where he teaches his passion for music to young people. Thierry Arsenault is a Sonor drums endorser.
