Canadian soprano Jana Miller is a versatile up-and-coming artist. Past operatic highlights have included Nanetta (Falstaff), Gretel (Hansel and Gretel), Morgana (Alcina), and Poppea (Agrippina). On the concert stage, she has been a featured soloist in Handel’s Messiah and Bach’s B minor Mass with Montreal’s Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul, as well as Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem and Monteverdi’s Vespers with McGill’s Schulich School Singers.
Jana Miller is an enthusiastic and committed performer of contemporary music. In 2009, she collaborated with living composers from across Canada at the New Opera Works colloquium in Banff, Alberta. Jana Miller has been featured in Montreal’s Musimars Contemporary Music Festival, and, in May 2011, she will be a semi-finalist in the Eckhardt-Gramatté National Music Competition.
Currently, Jana Miller is completing a Master’s of Music at McGill and a DESS diploma at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal with Sanford Sylvan and Daniel Taylor, respectively. Jana Miller has been supported by the Nova Scotia Talent Trust, the Austrian Society of Montreal, the Canada Council for the Arts, and the SSHRC Joseph Bombardier Master’s research grant.
