Canadian-Korean pianist Michelle Yelin Nam is in demand as a soloist in Canada and abroad. Praised for her “silvery clarity” (The Gazette), she has been described as playing “in the manner of the greats, before reaching their age” (La Presse). Michelle Yelin Nam completed her undergraduate studies at Schulich School of Music of McGill University with Richard Raymond, and her Master’s degree at the Juilliard School of New York with Julian Martin on an Alexander Siloti scholarship. Since September, she is pursuing an Artist Diploma at Hartford University under the direction of Haesun Paik and Phillip Kawins.

Since the age of ten, Michelle Yelin Nam has won several grand prizes in competitions in Korea. In Canada, she was chosen as the “CBC Up and Coming Canadian Artist” in 2002, has played with John Kimura Parker, and won First Prize at the Shean Piano Competition and the Canadian Music Competition.

She made her professional debut with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra in 2006. She also won the Grand Prize at the OSM Standard Life Competition the same year, giving her the opportunity to perform with the OSM, under Jacques Lacombe that same year, and under Heinrich Schiff in 2007. In May of 2009, she again appeared with the OSM under the direction of Kent Nagano alongside André Laplante and Alain Lefèvre.
