Alexandre Gagnier

Instrument: Bass Trombone

Alexandre Gagnier began music lessons at the innocent age of twelve and ever since, his mission has been to make his instrument sound as delicate and pretty as possible… not an easy task considering he took up the bass trombone. His formative studies took place in Québec City at the Conservatoire de Musique under the tutelage of Andrew Clayden. Subsequently he studied with internationally renowned conductor and soloist Alain Trudel at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal where Alexandre received the coveted Premier Prix. Alex is in demand as a freelance musician having played with many prestigious ensembles including l’Orchestre Métropolitain de Montréal and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and is a founding member and co-Artistic Director of Choeur de Métal, a twenty-piece brass and percussion ensemble featuring some of the most talented young professional musicians from Québec. When not playing music, teaching trombone, and fishing for the elusive Huge Trout, he manages the Montréal Music Teachers Cooperative, an organization offering music lessons given by exceptional musicians. iTromboni is delighted to have Alexandre grounding the group with his solid technique and artistic, attentive musical approach.
