Gerrit Theule

Instrument: baritone

Originally from Winnipeg and a veteran of the University of British Columbia’s opera program, his repertoire encompasses more than thirty performed and incredibly diverse roles. Acclaimed for his “well rounded notes and his talent for bombast” (Toronto Star), Canadian-American Gerrit Theule is one of the country’s most promising young bass-baritones. This season he will be returning to Opera York in Toronto for their production of La Bohème in the role of Colline. Last season saw Guerrit Theule perform in two different 21st century operas as The Farmer in the North American debut of Milch-Sherrif’s And The Rat Laughed in Toronto, and as Brentano/ Rumplestiltskin in Winnipeg in a production of Dean Burry’s The Brothers Grimm.
