Jessica Bowes has been gaining attention as one of Canada’s most promising young singers. Currently studying with Marie Daveluy, she has also received training under the tutelage of Heather Thomson-Price at the University of British Columbia, and at the Toronto Summer Music Academy and Festival under the musical direction of Agnes Grossmann. Having performed overseas in such operas as Don Giovanni and Xerxes, she has also taken on new works, appearing as Helena in Canadian composer Tobin Stoke’s The Vinedressers. In 2006, she made her solo debut with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra as the Second Woman in Dido and Aeneas. She has also worked with well-known Canadian conductors such as Les Dala and Bramwell Tovey. In October 2010, she made her debut with the Opéra-Théâtre de Rimouski playing the character of Marilyn Horne in Hommages aux Divines, and in 2011, she performed under the baton of Alain Trudel in Un Concert Viennois at the Festival Opéra de St. Eustache. Jessica Bowes has also performed oratorio works with the Vancouver Bach Choir and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
