A little history …
The building was designed by the architect Harold Lea Fetherstonhaugh and
built in 1932. It was first known as the Laurier Clinic, and housed the main
medical and dental clinic for the Laurier city
district.
The City of Montréal renamed it as the Siegler Clinic in honour of a local
alderman, and bought the land behind the building for a swimming pool and
gymnasium, which however were never built.
In December 1984, JMC began to rent the building for its offices, and July
6, 1999, the City transferred ownership to the organization to allow it to
undertake a major renovation project. The JMC Foundation contributed to the
project by overseeing its administration and obtaining funding from the
Québec and Canadian governments. The architect Renée Daoust, of the firm
Daoust, Lestage Inc., designed the interior layout of the new JMC House.
