Baritone

Born in Port Colborne, Ontario, baritone Phillip Addis received his diploma in operatic performance from the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music. He is currently engaged with the Atelier lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal. His involvement with the young artists program was highlighted by his performance as Taddeo in the Opéra de Montréal’s production of Rossini’s L’Italiana in Algeri, following roles in the company’s productions of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, Verdi’s Rigoletto and Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. Phillip Addis won first prize in the OSM Standard Life Competition in 2004 and in the Orchestre symphonique de Québec’s Canadian Concerto Competition. He made his debut last spring with I Musici de Montréal in Martinu’s rarely-heard opera Alexandre Bis. During the summer of 2004 he was at the Steans Institute for Young Artists of the Ravinia Festival.
